We all have things that drive us a little crazy! When it comes to speaking I have a huge pet peeve because it impacts your audience and your desired results in a negative way.

I believe as a public speaker you are supposed to give your audience your 100% very best.  They deserve that!

When I am in an audience, I literally cringe when I see a speaker sitting in a chair while addressing an audience.

As a professional speaker, coach and trainer, it goes against every ounce of my belief system.  You might be saying “What’s the big deal?”

Here is why.  The audience expects you and needs you, the speaker, to keep your energy up so they can keep their energy up too.

As soon as a speaker sits during a presentation, three things happen.

1. The speaker’s energy immediately drops and it is hard to rebound when they begin standing again. They never seem to fully recover their energy.

2. The moment the speaker sits, the audience’s energy falls drastically as well. The next time you see a speaker sit while they are presenting, watch what happens to your energy levels and everyone around you.

3. The speaker looses that natural flow of thought and it becomes harder to express their ideas in a clear and concise manner.

When I presenting during my multi-day 6-Figure Irresistible Speaking workshop, I literally stand on stage for days. Yes, my feet hurt. Yes, I would love to find a chair. Yes, I believe with all my heart that my audience needs me to stand up so that I keep the energy high for ALL.

Your audience has to come first. As a speaker, stating that you are an expert speaker in your industry isn’t enough; you have to act like one too.
