I was walking on the beach enjoying another beautiful sunrise. Of course my two kids with fur – aka our dogs – Angel and Serena, were with me. Then suddenly, I had one of the big light bulb moments. It seems to happen a lot these days. I have to share something with you. I hope it helps you shine even brighter and maybe do something you haven’t done before!

Picture yourself in the middle of delivering a powerful presentation.

Maybe it is your first or your hundredth. Everything is going as planned. The audience is hanging on their seat listening to every word. They love your message and they love you. You can feel it. They are laser focused on the information that you are sharing with them. You are having a huge impact on their life.

Then suddenly, you have this really strong gut feeling that you must share something with them. Totally unplanned and unexpected, however you heart is telling you that they need to know this now.

Remember, your audience is counting on you so what do you do when you get that inspired nudge to do something differently?

Do you:

  • Follow your heart? Or do you allow doubt and reason to step in?
  • Do you go with it? Or do you stay on course and not deviate from your planned presentation?
  • Do you really trust your speaker’s hunch or inspired action steps? Or do you shut it down?

Albert Einstein would have told you to go for it and I absolutely agree! Albert said “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift”.

Your inner guidance, aka intuition, is calling! For me “intuition” is divine guidance. Sometimes it is known as a “hunch” or “gut feeling.” Whatever you choose to call it, it is when you are feeling inspired to take an immediate unplanned action.

As a professional speaker, author and public speaking expert, I have learned to listen to my heart / inner guidance / intuition and it has literally changed my life! During every presentation I am giving, whether it is 45 minutes or my 4 day Peak Performance Speaking Boot Camp, I have those divinely inspired presentation moments. I feel inspired to say and do something that wasn’t planned in advance. It has served me and my audiences well. And it is one of the reasons that many people love how I train and coach public speakers.

How do you know when is it a good idea to add in an inspired thought and/or idea into your presentation?

Here are some essential factors to keep in mind:

#1 Time

Will the inspired activity or comment fit into your time schedule? Do you need to cut something else out to fit it in?

#2 Flow

Does it fit into your current presentation message? Can you share it without completely interrupting the entire flow and structure of your speech?

#3 Audience

Is your audience ready to hear this information? Will it serve the Highest and Best of your entire audience or is it a particular audience member that needs to hear it after the presentation?
