My “How to give a good presentation” percentage rule looks like this.
“When creating a presentation, you want to spend 10 to 15 percent on your speech opening and 10 to 15 percent on your speech closing.” ~AmondaRose, Speaker Success Coach
The Opening
If you’re delivering a 30-minute presentation, you might spend three minutes on your opening section. You could have a little bit more time to deliver your opening because remember the opening is 10 to 15 percent.
The Closing
Next, in your closing you also have that 10 to 15 percent as it applies to my “How to give a good presentation” percentage rule. So, you might spend three minutes or a little bit more than that on your closing.
The Content
And lastly, the rest of your presentation content is the middle which are the main key points. Whatever time you use in your opening and your closing, is left over for the middle of your presentation.
Remember the 10 to 15 percent presentation rule when it comes to writing a talk which is 10 to 15 percent of the opening and 10 to 15 percent on the closing, and the time that you have left over is focused on the middle.
