The world is made up of two kinds of speakers – those who give it their best even if they stumble and try again, and those who let the fear stand in their way so they never really get started.  You can imagine who gets results and who doesn’t.

One of the most important parts of a presentation is undeniably the call to action.  When it comes to this important presentation element, many speakers often let their own negative self talk take them out of the game before they even get started.  They have become hostage to their own thoughts!

It can be super challenging to tell an audience exactly what steps you want them to take, especially if there is an additional time commitment and/or monetary investment involved.

Conquering the call to action challenge is crucial.  If it is not addressed it can be one of the single biggest impediments to speaking success.

First you want to look at the things you tell yourself:

  • I don’t want to seem too pushy or “sales-y”
  • They don’t have the money to invest in this
  • I know they will contact me afterwards if they really want it
  • It is okay if they don’t move forward now

These powerful and debilitating thoughts are actually fear in disguise.  They will ensure that you get the results you most feared.

In your mind the fear seems so real.  How do you turn it around starting today?

Follow my 3 STEP PLAN on how to Conquer the Call to Action Challenge, specifically created for Speakers.

# 1 – Turn Around Your Self-Defeating Mind Chatter.

Next time your inner voice of fear and self doubt chimes in, stop and write down the self-defeating and limiting beliefs.  Get them out of your head and on to paper.  When you see them on paper it will actually diminish the power they have over you and will help you create a new, more objective perspective.

# 2 – Document What Worked.

While we can’t stop the negative thoughts, we can handle them effectively by keeping a speaker’s success journal that highlights everything that has worked well during your very important call to action.   Pay close attention to how your audience was responding. Did they seem attentive, were they taking notes, were they nodding their heads in agreement?  If you focus on the positive, you will create more of the same.

# 3 – Always Speak from the Heart

As long as you are speaking from an authentic and heartfelt place, your audience can’t see you as pushy and “sales-y.”  They will know you are someone who really cares about them and their success. The most successful speakers are able to share their programs, products and services with people from a powerful and heartfelt place.  They are unstoppable because they have an authentic appreciation for their audience and for their ability to positively impact their lives.

Take control of your call to action fears by implementing these 3 speaking steps so that you can start to significantly improve your results!
