We can never assume that any knows what we are talking about.  I have seen way too many individuals use business lingo when talking to an audience or a potential client. I have learned from my mistakes too!

To top it all off, most of our prospective clients, audiences and clients don’t want to look foolish so they don’t ask questions to clarify or confirm what they just heard and/or learned.

To ensure that we are always clear in our communication:

  • Repeat what you are trying to say in several unique ways. People hear and experience things on very different levels. We can never assume it was crystal clear to them.
  • Always ask questions to access if they are truly understanding the information or just nodding their heads.
  • Ask questions that result in full sentence responses. If they are fully understanding your message they should be able to respond quickly and easily answer your questions.
  • Look out for puzzled faces. That is a great barometer to tell if you are effectively communicating your message. If they getting your message all eyes should be on you.
