As a busy speaking coach, I often find myself moving so quickly that I don’t always stop and think before I take an action. Last night was a great example of that.
I was doing some research and ended up clicking on a bogus link which was ready and willing to hack my computer. I started to panic. Left to my own devices I would have clicked on something that could ultimately lead to my computer being destroyed.
By the grace of God, my husband was sitting next to me. I immediately handed him the computer. All I could say was “Help!” Just like he always does, he thinks before he reacts. He didn’t panic. He made a clear decision before he acted. He shut down the program that was trying to hack my computer. In my moment of distress, I might have aimlessly clicked on some fatal computer program.
I learned two valuable lessons:
- Really think before you click on any website. Just because it is on a google page doesn’t make it safe.
- Stop and think before I react to an external circumstance. Even if I just take a second to focus and breath before I react, it may result in making the write choice vs. the wrong choice.
Thank God for the people in my life who are always there just when I need them to be.
This is another priceless lesson learned!
